About Jamil Jalla

Jamil Jalla has a background in fine arts and practices cinema in Kabul, Afghanistan. He has worked on a number of short and feature projects both as creative head and as collaborator. He is an alumni of the Asian Film Academy, Pusan.

He has worked frequently for TV in Afghanistan. His films have won him awards and recognition at several festivals at home and abroad.

Synopsis

Murteza, a quiet cab driver from Kabul needs to transport the dead body of a woman who has succumbed to cancer. His destination is a village next to Iran’s border, a place where he belongs to and has been running away from.

With five passengers the cab drives past Afghanistan’s dusty highway before all onboard realize there’s a dead body being carried.

Past the hurdles a beautiful daughter of a jihadi commander awaits whom he was once married to. In a dark room guarded by the Jihadi army, Murteza needs to answer his hearts deepest questions or he might not have a life to live for.
