Docskool as a network of professional and aspiring filmmakers joins hands with Nepal's premiere art institution to deliver the first of its kind film program in Nepal.
Designed to bridge the gap between theoretical and practical filmmaking, the three months course in filmmaking is a film familiarization program designed for practising and aspiring filmmakers.
The program aims at enabling the understanding of cinema as an art amongst participants, while exploring the possibilities of filmmaking within controlled social; economic and political constraints. Not limited to but willing to capitalize on the recent technical developments which cinema has garnered, the program looks at cinema as an independent form of expression and its core objective to allow the individual artist to blossom.
Unlike any other film programs, this programs allows participants as Docskool members to use all film facilities at Docskool film centre and work directly as filmmakers after graduation.

Application Procedure
- Fill up the form as per the stated guidelines
- Attach the form with one portfolio ( any visual art), your CV, xerox of citizenship/Passport certificate and 2 passpost size photograph along with attested copies of academic transcripts( which can also be attested while submitting the application)
- The form must be submitted in person at either Docskool or at KUart along with an application processing fee of NRs. 550/-
- All applications will be reviewed before the finalists are announced in July.

Detailed Program Information
RATIONALE
1. The training program created as a collaborative initiative of Docskool and KU Centre for art & Design (KUart); aims to reflect the core belief of Docskool to promote cinema as an universal access medium amongst normal Nepali's creating newer forms in nepali cinema while establishing KUart's vision to continue promoting and providing high end educational initiatives into the spheres of art not explored in Nepal.
2. This, practical hands on exercise will promote the development of major skills in the understanding and use of specific concepts thought prerequisite by film professionals; however shall not confine to pre- dictating the nature and form of cinema that should exist. The aim is to allow cinema to blossom while we the filmmakers devise independent ways of letting it be explored.
3. Powered by the wider array of programs KUart offers as BA courses in painting, sculpting, animations and graphics design; and the network of participation for cinematic development which Docskool exists on; the program aims at promoting individual participants to become the best in their form by the use of this unique possibility which the collaboration offers.
WHO MAY APPLY
As a university accredited professional program in Film, the three months professional training in film only accepts individuals who have completed high school education. Minimum qualification is 10+2 or equivalent. An applicant must be a minimum of 19 years of age for application. All applications filed will be reviewed by the selection committee before any final conclusions are given for admission. Experience or a background in art is not a barrier for application and shall possess no specific value.
LEARNING AND TEACHING METHODOLOGIES
The three months professional training program on cinema is a part-time course supervised by experts and supplemented by specific film based educational resources. The program takes place at the art studios based college of KUart at Mandikhatar where ideas have more spaces as artists of different kind mingle under the same roof. As an advanced program offering film as a form of study theoretical and practical exploration stand at the core of the program which are laid out into eight modules covering different components. All students have access to books, films and equipments (for specific projects) enabling the program to be comprehensive.
